Hi! The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. It's just my internet connection at home which is dead. Posting this one at the bleedin' library.

Anyway,
this one is for Beth.

02

I remember
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and talking with Beth
until the sun cracked a bullwhip into my eyes
I remember
the sound of her laughter taking away my breath
with soft, awkward and crooked happy sighs
I'd surrender
to the feeling she gave me in little blue sad truths
in love with her
and all her crazy ways she blew of all the roofs
covering me, so she could see
a lonely-eyed boy to become her toy
and it was the best thing that ever happened to me

two
thousand
two
she
came out
the blue
to save me from myself and me

I remember
Tom Petty records and crawling for Beth
'till my heart got dragged into heartbreak mud
I remember
the taste of sweet firehoney when we first met
and unbelievable love spiraling into my blood
burning ember
my heart like the last flaming sun of the evening
in love with her
and the days she left me fumbling for the meaning
of this adoration from inside me
a lonesome sundown guy tryin' to fly
and it was the best thing that ever happened to me

two
thousand
and two
she
the sun
me the moon
light me up with wonder and beauty

Scorpio sign like a devil's tail
but then again like it's pointin' the way outta hell
Scorpio girl like a gypsy angel
over and over again fillin' up my creativity well
to write songs like this
to unclench the fist
and hold my heart out to her
please remember

two
thousand
and two
she
put out
my blues
and inspired these songs within me

And I remember
going into the mystic with my sweet Beth
until the world dies I will see her rise
burning ember
the thought of her essence steals my breath
such soft, brilliant curves fuel my sighs
oh I surrender
to the feeling she leaves me in lovely hues
so in love with her
and all the crazy wonder that she imbues
into my open broken soul in need
a moon of a boy will always be her toy
and she was the best thing that ever happened to me
and she was the best thing that ever happened to me
and she is the very best thing
glad it happened to me
