Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

(Sung to the tune of "You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me, Lucille")

On a road that was dusty, in a car that smelled musty
She sat beside him and started to sing
He tried not to listen
Something was missing
His eardrums were beginning to ring
When she saw he had left her
For an under-sized heifer
She sang she had more fish to fry
He just looked at her
What did it matter
She waved his wallet and drove quickly by

You picked a fine time to find me a deal
I got the money and you’re still a heel
I can’t sing in tune
You took off too soon
You left me money to steal
You picked a fine time to find me a deal

She hitched up her britches
Almost burst all their stitches
Her hips swung as she strode from the car
Now her song became sweeter
She’ll find a new man to need her
They'll go for a fast ride and go far
She has lots of his money
She’ll get a new honey
Her eyes are set on a shiny bright star
It won’t take her awhile
With her feminine wiles
She smiles and walks into the bar

You picked a fine time to find me a deal
I got the money and you’re still a heel
I can’t sing in tune
You took off too soon
You left me money to steal
You picked a fine time to find me a deal

Dear Alison you are not only a great poet but a brilliant song writer as well.

That was terrific and I sang it right through twice. I loved it, well done.

Thanky all of ya.  That ding-dang Balladeer had me spinning in circles on this one!     It was an assignment from the Poetry Workshop and I had lots of fun playing with it.  Of cours4, like ya'll mentioned - the blasted tune won't leave my hay-yed.

G'nite, and thank you

After reading your fun loving poem here, I am inspired to find out more about the form of this creature of parody.  Or is it spelled, "parrotty creature?"  Oh my, my brain is on a respit!  Hm...  Perhaps a good time to write!   Thanks for the inspiration.   You always do that, you know...  you inspire.

Gads...where can I go now
to get this tune out of my head?
Kenny will be sitting beside me
all day now...

Hey, it's not all bad, considering...

the idea of Kenny, that is. As for the
poem?

Charming, cute, and all Alison!

Way ta go ali!!!
I remember the the lyrics and hear the melody and the music I heard in a rudimentary because of the ear damage.  I could make out the tune a l8ittle bit.
Sleep real goo, dear Ali!
