Hear it toll,
The clear tone that is ringing,
Hear it chime
Marking time,
It’s a sad song of singing;
Hear it toll.

Twelve tones clear,
The date changes once again,
Dark passage
Marks an age,
Tolling against all pain,
And all hear.

Joyless, joyless, hear the bell.

Gloom

I think it would shock me if you wrote something happy

I hope that day comes

but until it does, I will enjoy your gloomy writes

A little darkness smoothes out a garishly, sunny morning.

If this is supposed to be a joyless poem, then how come I am smiling after reading and rereading it? 'tis a clever write.
