Dear Bramble, Dear Braid,

The floorboards hold daisychains,
birdseed, psalms,
and I've learned at last,
how to map the sequence,

deduce that to run is to whip is to tear,
multiplied by the number of stairs
it takes to reach the attic,

subtract the length of satin
in this old nightgown,
and the width of my shoulders,

to divide the number of days
I've worn bluebirds in my hair,
admonish the long absences

and the dark laughter,
trailing after the long fox coat,
and the loose frocks,  OH

and that box I've kept
with rope and a compass,
buried beneath the porch,

along with a quart of bluemilk,
for brewing custard
in the sweet hereafter.

Bel1e, where did you come from?

Not from here, no, I think not.

This is shadow and notion, and slices of smoke that somehow fell through a river and drowned in bone...

This is love of poetry, waiting to happen.

A very lovely poetic sequence. This is the first time I've read your work but I am enthusiastic. Bravo!

I hadn`t read this until today but I have noticed a preoccupation with maps, blueprints and the like.  Are you an architect or have you studied the subject at school?  The opening stanza where you mention birdseed and daisy chains to map a sequence was the best.
