another old one that i wrote in my late teens early 20s

I have loved.
I have lost.
I have grown.
And I have withered.
Life is an endless cycle.
That no one can control.
So strap in, and hold on
For this is going to be
The ride of your life.
There are going to be
People that help you prosper.
And there are going to be
People that are back stabbers.
It is a roller coaster that never ends.
With emotions that are ups
And emotions that are downs
You won’t know what is up
Or what is down, after a while
This is the cycle that we call life
Get use to it
‘Cause you never know
When you’re going to get off.

^^^Truth report in the Age of the New Robber Barons. Although, I hope you would admit it is (sometimes) not so difficult to distinguish ups from downs.

Thanks for sharing this blast from the past. I, and I am sure many others, can relate.

Of all your poems I like this one the best.  Using a roller coster as a metaphor for life may not be original but I do like the way that you have presented it.  I too felt like I was strapped in and holding on for dear life while reading this.  Nice work.
