Just another ordinary fog
Orange skies at night
From the flames as they rise,
Such a strange and eerie glow
Begging me to follow
Driving for miles,
Lost in silent, nostalgic thought
Just driving, and knowing naught
But what the wind will allow
Saving me somehow
Still, the fiery glow
And it feels good to be alive
On my own, breathing in the night
Passing through my old hometown
My head spinning round and round
Been such a long time
Since I touched the heart of life
Or even lived my life
Chasing those far off dreams
Gone forever it seems
I’ve forgotten how it feels
To enjoy the world again
Just driving nowhere
Not knowing where I am led
Not caring, just living instead
This is a night I’ll remember
How the air felt so good tonight
And everything seemed to fit right
This all feels like the perfect night
Just because I feel …tonight

I like this.. very introspective, using the night drive as the metaphor for confusion..(unless I `read` it wrong?)   nice

Yes, fog beckons us into the dark. Night is a mysterious stranger. We never know what we'll find there. And you express this so well. Bravo.

Enjoyed your muse.  Could sense the dew in the air, convertible with the top down!

Amaryllis, yes you got it right. I actually wrote this in the car driving around in a night such as this.

Ali, thank you for reading. It was a glorious night.

Bastest, thanks. I like the unknown. Sometimes.

Kathy, you know me so well, you can even picture it. Except for the convertible part.

Bel1e...thank you for heeding the summons. lol I enjoyed your art on your website.
