Just as I ran out of excuses
Not to go to the store
I got on Pip and found one more….
I even thought there was nothing left to right about????

Dear Alison,
My heart goes out to you … but you know that already.
This may sound a bit worn out trite,
Though sometimes I must remind myself.
Then enter and leave our lives haphazardly,
and more than half the time
you don’t know why,
or what became of them, or where they went.
In vain do I wonder how I might have kept them
Just a little longer,
why I never got a chance to say goodbye,
what I might have done, or known, or said
that would have made it come out differently.
Life is a terminal illness, in the end it kills you.
It is a malignant illness full of ragged endings.
One of the symptoms of Life is misery,
So if you feel miserable some times
then, you have come down with the infection of Life.
For as long as we’re alive
There’s always something new around the corner,
And for each one who passes out of our lives,
There is another waiting to enter.

I am glad you have let me glimpse a part of your life.
I hope and pray that I will always be a part of it.
But if a day should come when you are finally tired of me,
I’ll understand and, without complaining,
slink quietly back into the shadows …

Dear Jaime,

Just as I have shown you glimpses of me - some parts that I keep very close - you have also given me a gift.  You don't let everyone see how sweet you are.  You are a very dear friend to me.  Thank you for reading and understanding my poem.  You are right - life does end in death.  I can't see it as a malignant disease (smiles a bit) - but that is just one of the differences between us.  I am on a bit of a quiet ride lately.  I don't seem to have much to say or share with anyone - so when I get like this, I just get really quiet.  It works for me, but it might worry you.  Don't worry please.  I value your friendship and never want you to slink off to some shadowy quiet place where you don't talk to me.  Just have patience, my friend.  I am here and I read - and you are my good firend.

Thank you for that.

You know what? I ain’t bothering with the store.  I’ll jusat order some plastic and charge it to my Itallian. (yes I did see the mistake but purposely left it there.)
Dear, dear ali.
So precious and reassuring your reply is to me.  Because I did indeed start to worry when you stopped appearing here for what semmed like a very long time, but I kept the worries to myself, hesitating to reveal I was a bit concerned, but how you put me at ease now!  The way you help me understand your (sometimes mysterious) phases and moods.  Please continue to help me understand.  Like when your not feeling well.  I can’t say I won’t worry now and then, with friendships it’s practically inevitable.
So if you don’t feel like writing or bantering and feel gerenally “unsocial,” now I know that and that you’re okay.  In any case, what you just wrote me, dear Ali, is enough to take me thousands and thousands of miles across the storms and shoals of life! with Those ali love strokes they keep me going, and going …
We talk whenever, okay????
Scoops you up in a long, long, long hug
Loves Jaime
