She controls the room. She is
the throbbing vein that gets the itch
of that something
I had known
only in my dreams--
a teaser to put out the fire
that she had begun

innocently

just by being there.

He is the taste of something rude--
a bitter thing that becomes smooth
intriguing in the aftertaste,
of...almonds? Maybe, but I know
as different as he is from her,
they would work together well--
see how he bends the evening light

illuminating

gentle form

transcendent

mighty

as the musk ofnight
cloaks them both

hermaphrodite--

Hermes Wings enfolding her
as Aphrodite's thick-lid eyes
captured Solstice nod consent
enraptured in the myriad
waves of twilight marbelized
as a watchman said "Goodnight."
An escort to the door
he told me with propriety
but not without some sympathy:

"The Arts are our imaginings--
our minds await such chiseling;
and patience through the polishing."
I nodded, and I said, "Thank you--
I hope I didn't overstay
ny welcome. I realize you had to wait."

My turnkey locked the solid gate
and confessed through iron bars,
"Actually I'd hoped that they
would let you watch them recreate
the rapture of the human race,
I've watched them both for many years--
I've clocked in early; I've worked late.
I've witnessed things most would call lies.
Tonight I watched you scrutinize;
I fought the urge to intervene
but I confess I have my needs."
I, like you, yearn for the truth.
I watched you watch them come to life.
So it was there within your eyes
that I saw the coupling
I'd longed to see for all these years."

He smiled.

"Tonight was worth the wait."

* * *

Thus, I'd found my Holy Grail.
The scientific sieve prevailed.
But poignant in hypothesis--
the nag of thought that still persists:
merely this - the speculation:
that "God" exists in the reflection

of love

of life

the very light

that thing

we search for all our lives?

We find it

in

each other's eyes.

Fascinating and heartfelt.  I was truly enraptured by your
every thought, and I especially loved your ending.

Exellent poetry, but I knew that already!

Oh Karen ... what a wonderful piece. I loved the ending as well. You took me by surprise and I loved where you went with this. A terrific read. Much enjoyed.

Best wishes,

lawsy---I had no clue how this one was gonna end either, and I know, I know, I've been told forevvvvvvvvvvver to not reveal the source of my inspirations, but this'n doth amuse me much.

After watching my old computer disintegrate before my very eyes, naturally I pondered viruses, trojans, and the lowly but deadly worm. It was the sex life of the worm that stewed and simmered in my mind as I pouted in my bed--alone--over there. --->

I'm relating from memory, so something is probably wrong, but I pondered that worms do quite well all by themselves, being a sexual hermaphrodite. Ya'll know that wide ring on the average worm? Well, I think that's called the platella, and beneath that ring are the eggs of the worm. (I think.) The worm wriggles that thing over itself like a fat woman putting on a pair of spanks, successfully fertilizing the eggs as it passes over the um, let's call 'em the principles of activity, and the ring at long last falls off, and the rest is herstory. (It's kinda sorta that way, methinks.)

But yep, I was thinking about hermaphrodite, which led me to think of Hermes and Aphrodite, and I thought what a work of art that all is...fascinates me, it does.

And out of all of that, came this.

A quirky method of writing that I don't recommend, but I do very much appreciate your time and consideration for reading the stuff.

I hope to return the favor as soon as I learn how to type all over again. (From a manual Olivetti to these itty bitty flat keys? OY. Talk aboutcher evolution!

Fun stuff when it's not annoying.

I'll be around. (Both a promise and a threat.

Your mind fascinates me. How you get from here to there is also fascinating.Only you can think of worms and come up with a piece like this. You  more than rock and more than roll you swing, lady you swing.

love ya, late.

Thanky for that shade of Gray, m'twin.

and my mind does work in mysterious ways.

When I saw your naIe here I thunk to myselves: "People are gonna start to think I'm holding a match under her shell..."

Burns and Blaze--sounds like a vaudeville team (or a porno movie )

Happy B'day right back atcha, and to Sharon, and Jo, and I know there's a lot more of us...I love ya lady.

Wish you were here. Or that I was there. Or we were both somewhere?

well whaddya know? You shouldn't sneak up on me like that--unpleasant things happen when I'm startled. *chuckle*

It's good to see an old friend, though. Thank you, Cap. I appreciate it.

(Learning to type all over again, too--flat keys--hmmm, I think I'm getting the feel of 'em tho.)

You are a bender of words, milady. You delve into light and shadow, and the subtle hues of seduction. You always leave me thinking, wondering, and longing for more.

I have an entirely new respect for worms. I sure do!

Lord, but I wish I could be inside that brain of yours for one hour to see all the folks that live in there, and get to go play.

Happy Birthday again K, and J, I was thinking of you both when I was away.

Oh darn, I hate being #13.
