Summer days are water colors
and floral fabrics
a gauzy linen painted in pastels
even the breeze blows a cool porcelain blue.
A whisper of baby's breath
reminds me of the innocence of youth
like sweet peas wild abandon
in all their assorted merriment
un-arranged in their simple beauty.

Summer sways over fields of lavender
offset by the slant of sun
and white cotton clouds
stirring the stillness and wisp of wishes.
Those days are crystal clear
like a floral imprint
ruffled around the edges.

Summer strays
and yellow roses still appeal to me
perhaps with more meaning.
The unfolding so delicate and pure
so reassuring
so unexpected
so easy on my eyes.
Like a long and winding road
I will always miss you
when summer comes into play
and my garden is in bloom
I will sing in the sunshine
and hold you in my arms
forgetting you not.

Summer stays,
like a daisy chain
connects us to the past and present
by the gifts we give of ourselves
blessed by the moments we shared
however fleeting they may be.
As golden rod fills the emptiness
with a promise less enchanting
a mixed bouquet
more vivid than I remember.

Bluesy - how lovely to read this as we shiver here in the middle of winter but that aside your write paints a picture we can all relate to and sends a meaningful message.  Oh, and your poetic efforts are always worthwhile!

I would love to comment on this exquisite poem but don't know what more I can add. I drink in your imagery as if it were champagne. This definitely calls for many encores.

grand-fine mix of Summertime Impressionism
and Romanticism (wonderful imagery) !
[for me, like the effect of a Van Gogh painting] ...

MUCH sustained applause for this 'penning' !!
