Flags wave in the breeze
and I wonder if they feel
the air cruel and sinister
around their happiness.

It’s a movement from all sides
not intended ere to be
but it forces a crossover
from the upright and determined
to a wayward vagabond.

Unable to remain at peace
that vagabond is me
manoeuvred like a fool
into a foreign mode
by the air that circulates
demonic energy.

So I plant my flag again, again,
from where it was to where should be
and this exercise seems futile
when nothing can be seen
but the bend and stretch,
mental intent,
the saviour of all flags, you see,
that wave haphazard in a breeze!

They say nothing moves "haphazard" ... everything has a reason to be as it is.

Another fine psychologically profound write, dear Helen!

(I thought from the title you were referring maybe to the flags of all the Nations participating to the World Football Championship Games in South Africa ... )

Love,
Margherita

What a great muse you have, however lonesome she may be,
I really love how you're inspired and the thoughts you share in your poetry.

Hugs to you, Lady Sunday~

Hi Margherita.  Yes, I did have the World Cup flags in my mind but, as you perhaps know, the mind goes where it wants to go sometimes and my fingers just follow.

I watched the opening ceremony and first game between us and Mexico today.  It was a draw.  I'll keep abreast of what's going on but some years back I lost my taste for soccer.

Thank you, Bluesy.  She is sad sometimes but that's just because she knows how "things" should be and, of course, they never are as they should be.

I still love it when you call me "Lady Sunday" because it reminds me of the past and there was a time in that past that was so very good.

Love
Helen
