Dusk

it started with the welt

upon my arm and on my shin

any place that has thin skin

tiny beasts leave larger sins:

Projection: Unprecedented

cicadas sing the dirge

as men

gather wearing white-boots-grim

implanting bamboo reeds

as if

it matters, now.

We're done.

Actually? NOTHING silences those damned things. They have survived so many toxins, I'm actually feeling competitive! (Annoying little bastids, I say...)

there is great power in the words you write.

A poet must leave traces of his passing not proof.

Wow. Hey, Keth. I'm so glad I popped back in.

(I have a very benevolent neighbor who doesn't call an ambulance when she sees me floating in her pool at three a.m. It's nice.)

Good to see you too.

I'm gonna go comb out my hair.

Nice swim, too. G'nite kind people.

The final "coup de grace" hits strong.

I do love cicadas, they mean summer and pine trees scent and ... memories (the last I mentioned is the strongest reason of course!). Nonetheless I feel for you under the circumstances!

Great work.

Ah....cicadas.

I don't really hate 'em--I just find them over-romanticized in general.

And D.S.?

Obama still has my respect, although I confess my patience for his patience is growing thin. I happen to think that corporations should be held accountable to what I always thought was the superior standards of our country; I believe the corporations which do business here should at least be subject to the same laws and penalties as every citizen of the U.S. In short, I want nothing less than eleven criminal charges of manslaughter brought against this irresponsible corporation, reckless endangerment? We'll let the attorneys sort out how many charges that might add up toward, from the men/women fortunate enough to escape the exploding rig, to the loss of livelihood of fisherman along the Gulf Coast--from here, through Alabama to those beautiful white sand beaches of Florida. It would delight me further to watch BP sue Haliburtan in turn, for manufacturing and installing faulty safety seals. And then? I'd like to see a total investigation, as every public official who signed off on any agreement involving such deplorable and shady contracts also being held responsible--and publically renounced if not also held economically and legally liable.

Y'see, as you might have heard, when ya ain't got nothin' left, ya got nothin' to lose.

So now I want it all.

Thanks all, for reading the rant.

My love and well wishes to you and yours.

Tranquil flame, hot as fire with smoke that softly billows like embers from patchouli incense that gently escapes from a silver ladened burner and awakens your senses making one aware of your presence, bringing feelings and thoughts of erotica that claims man's soul, bringing thoughts of passion, creating fantasies that can only be performed as words cannot depict the true act of what should be done to you and with you. The "act" can't be accomplished with true feeling without "love" existing. This is what Serenity Blaze defines. A Tranquil Flame that I'd imagine is a raging inferno when brought into a romantic bedding. The image of you, in candle light, at dusk, cicada's making their calls for romance, to attract a mate, a cool breeze that cuts thru the sizzling heat of the south but not nearly as comforting as your breath on one's neck from your pants of pleasure, You are an incredible lady Ms. Blaze.

Pardon me, Chalmette Guy, but you have been completely kicked to the curb by the wise man who commented before you.

I do believe he's melted me from a rage of fire to that warm flicker of candlelight.

Buzz? You have undressed me with your mind and I am naked without shame. Thank you so much for your insight and your compassion for a woman who has painted herself crazy thinking that doing so would render me safely untouchable.

I think these tears are a welcome respite today. Damn but you are good.

P.S. C.G. You owe me a beer--but I think I'll pass. Save your money for a civics textbook.

OH. And a marble notebook to take notes from the gentleman who spoke before you.

And I came back to say DAYUM. I actually read this to a friend who just dropped by, and...oh sigh, sigh, sigh.

That was like finding what you're hungry for...too bad my e mail is still out of order. (My computer truly was "hijacked", I'm sorry to say. I'm locked out of my own...box. *pout*)

Thank you again, Toe. It's been far too long since someone spoke to me like that.

I am not quite sure what to make of all the chatter concerning this poem.  While I was reading this work I became concerned about your well being because no one should ever suffer physical abuse from another.  I am not sure how cicadas fit into this equation but I am fond of the insects.  I wrote a haiku about them.

My gratitude to you all, and my apologies to Earl for the confusion--my e mail account was down (still is for now) and I have a doozy of a time this past six weeks as I was in an auto accident, was administered steroid, went through percocette withdrawal which compounded the anxiety attacks brought on by the oil spill, electrical problems in my home as well as a particular virulent computer virus or whatever that was which compromised pretty much every account I ever opened anywhere. And yes, all of this is pretty much business as usual for me, so you'd think I'd be better at living life like raquetteball with handgrenades by now, but noooooooooooooo. I'm not.

So thank you all for your patience, and especially Toe for leaving a reply that made actually sob for fifteen minutes, and mah dear friend Ruth for making sure I've recovered.

Now if you'll excuse me, one of my dear friends has asked ME, little sobbing black cloud to stand in her wedding....oy.

And it's a big'un too--rhe whole southern 6 to 8 bridesmaids (she's still not sure) so um,

Ya'll stay tuned, y'hear?
