GLACIER IN CINQUAIN

ice witch
her blue blood filled
the crevices of earth
till now she kept her mother young
face frozen in clear glass
beauty

in spring
long white tresses
fell in avalanches
the great blanched wings of some bird of prey –
seas foaming with
silver

livid
like the glacier
two syllables, then one
soon to become nothing
where will the mountain maiden hide
when gas absorbs
her core

no rage
like a woman
scorned – imagine flooded fields
pointing finger rafters accuse
the grumbling sky
too late

beach lashed
by storm raiders
men and boats tossed like toys
losses uncounted before the
cavalcade of frothing
horses rides out
again

glacier
now tiny in
her grotto – mere after-
thought – sliver of ice dagger
in the soft heart
of earth

Wow! Will read this more than once, dear Bastet, it is hauntingly beautiful and impressive!

And ... thought provoking too, of course!

Love,

I am not really sure about the science (or the politics), but this poem of yours is the real thing. Good imagery imho, and good communication of emotions, too.

Yours Truly will read like some trite academic in saying: "I appreciate that the artist has worked in a regular, traditional form", but it is so much the truth. A very good read, thanks!
