genuine
contrasting
tough
silent
loud
the thoughts that vanquish
my fears of being dad,
of what a father I have been
or managed to forget,
of how silent days turned
into explosive nights
of running through halls
laughing out to the heavens
of moments played out in fear
of wondering how best to be
and should I follow this path
or let it be and let her choose.
Of always looking into her eyes
that can cast both shadows
and rays of light, at times both
into your soul,
the edges of which twinge up
to let you know all of this
all of this life is worth it
and shes really going to be ok.
what is left, is my anguish that
will never subside, but will find
some semblance of peace in that
outer edge of my heart, while
I watch her grow further into
that being I have always been
proud of, that one I have always
loved and wish to make smile.
So to the wind I lift you up
let it take you to journeys that
never end, but guide you along
paths that explore the range
of all that is small, and large
in this life that you have just
started to explore, letting the world
know who you are to never forget.

You do what you can and I am sure so will she. Thanks for whatever you've done to teach her well, and thanks for a very good read here.
