Soft-Edged Silhouette
       (from Boyhood Tales)

She came out of the sun
a soft-edged silhouette
almost hidden in bright, white light,
a door to heaven through which she passed;
a silhouette that grew larger, more clear,
as the sun shrank behind her,
until suddenly she was a 3d, living color, goddess,
walking down the beach towards me.
Breathless,
unabashedly staring ,
silent footsteps leaving images of her passing in the sand,
I watched her pass,
followed her with my eyes
as she became smaller and smaller with distance.
I blinked . . . she was gone,
and my soul was touched –
Forever.

Jimmy,
the lasting impression your eyes made
were etched into your poem
with great clarity.  Tip o the hat!

A beautiful portrait with an instantaneous, snapshot quality. I love "almost hidden by the bright, white light." This poem has a roundness of its own -- a self-contained unit. Bravo for lovely language and structure.
