There was a raven, dark and sleek
His voice, the sound of tapping beak
So ominous the rhythmic pain
That pulsed like drums through heart and vein

A raven’s peck aroused the spine
And darkest corners of the mind
His tapping in a midnight haze
Was like a shrouded mystic phrase

The rhythm of a raven’s beak
Broke up the silence of my sleep
And sent my mind into a spin
As leaves succumb to gusty wind

Were they to render thoughts in words
What brilliant quotes would come from birds

Well...I have to tell you that word is out around my bedroom window to stay the heck away!  We have crows, and they drive me NUTS!

Heck, you can even make a Raven sound wonderful you know that?

Quite exceptional, dear Elizabeth. We have ravens too here and no doubt they make their presence known!

Love,

I think that Poe would find this a worthy companion piece. I know I did.

"We'll chase them like rats across the tundra."
