I settled into the jet stream
loosening my grip
but you were not there above the clouds
and roaring engines.

You were the blaze of sun
setting on the edge of eternity
the rain shower washing over me
mingling with the humidity.

The buzz of Patron and fireflies
slowly easing into the stillness
like a self portrait
you fly so high beneath the brightest light.

Memories blend in harmony
a slow burn at the twilight hour
completes the circle that held us together
you were the warmest smile
a crowd of one
the life of our party.

While the air becomes thin and hard to breathe
I can't help my tears
like falling stars
back peddling for miles
I met you there
outside the window of my heart.

I closed my eyes
and felt you near
lingering long
in the moments of you.

hI There, Bluesy!  It's great to see you again!
I just loved this verse!

You were the blaze of sun
setting on the edge of eternity
the rain shower washing over me
mingling with the humidity.

It was great to see your poetry again.  Those blazes of eternity are something else!
Take care!

hugs,

misce'

Thank you very much for all your nice replies.
This is about a recent trip I took back east and the void
I felt by the death of my brother-in-law.  He was the most
wonderful human being, the life of our party, with a true heart of gold.

Thank you again for indulging me.

Dear Lori, I am sorry for your loss, but what incredibly beautiful words your heart and soul inspired you to write.

The emotion you convey is so deep and touching!

Love and hugs.

Lori, I can  well relate to this since I lost my brother-in-law  this time last year, a few years after losing my sister ( his wife).

always good to see you...and the next time you are back east...let me know.

Dear Blusey,

You know, the last time I was here I had just missed you, and I wasn't sure if I would ever see, your words again, but, something these last few days kept telling me, go check in with your friends at PIP and so I finally do, and... here you are.

It's really nice to see you again.

How sorry I am for you and your family's loss, I'm sure your brother in law was the most wonderful person, and that you will all miss him so very dearly.

Well, let me just say, welcome home dear friend, its been too, too, long.

I've been worrying about you. Nice to have you back!

I do enjoy your romantic touch. And I'm happy to find your pen still works. Thank you.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
