Leafs of Change

Insecure leafs of autumn
Don't know what to do
The branches still feel strong
But their grip is weakening
They blossomed through the spring
And provided shade in the summer
Now it's time to
fall,
gently,
floating,
swaying,
releasing to the process of nature
Insecure leafs of autumn
Land gently upon each other
anticipating,
resigned,
quietly,
waiting,
to be raked away.

The feel of the words are like leaves falling from a tree.  That took some effort and skill.

I remember when first seeing your name
I had thoughts of the
name "Whispering Bill"...

so I "read" this poem in that voice,
tone, sound.

It is beautiful!

Thank you.

I love poems about nature. This one is a complete metaphor on its own. Structure echoes the meaning -- the gradual fading aawy of the season. Bravo!

one leaf's shelter
is another's shade
so let us blend, they whispered,
blade upon blade
and they matched the wood's pale
until they fell into grace
one leaf's shelter
is another leaf's shade.

inspired by you, Walt.  Loved your poem, and the metaphors.
