Who would have thought,
...when I started to date her,
We'd still be together,
...some forty years later,
A year of romance,
...then we stood side by side,
Her hand in mine,
...my beautiful bride.
For thirty-nine years,
...she's been my wife,
And since the first day,
...the love of my life.
Four children were born,
...four children are grown,
For the past several years,
...once again on our own,
Now there are grandkids,
...what a glorious invention,
An addition to life
...of immeasurable dimension,
But at life's core,
...Connie Lynne does remain,
A rose o' so fair,
...words just can't explain,
Yet as June beckons,
...another poem I write,
One of these years,
...I'll get the thoughts right,
But then again,
...as I think in reflection,
There just is no way,
...I can pen of perfection.

I think you've made a fine effort of perfection here. Congrats on 40 years. Peace to you and yours.

It's almost as if Seal spoke directly to you in the song: "Kiss From a Rose":
There is so much a man can tell you,
..there's So much he can say.
there's so much inside.
You remain,
My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grey,
