A Fistful of Me

Hidden rainy waves of discontent
Softly cascade through my sickly fingers
Splashing into my palm in their descent
The sensation tenaciously lingers
Tingling, tingling, refusing to relent
`Tis a never ending ticklish torment!
Have my fingers been poisoned by some malcontent
If so, what is the culprit`s intent?

The banality of pain
The banality of suffering
The banality of me
Paralyzes me

Surely the devil resides in my hand
Picking at me with a razor-dull pitchfork
As he scrapes my inner skin with course sand
My impaled blood vessels not unlike cork
The devil`s not alone.He with a band
His vile minions at his beck and command
For the evil ones, a dead hand has already been planned
How much longer can my hand withstand?

The banality of pain
The banality of suffering
The banality of me
Paralyzes me

Yo Earl,

That's too bad.  I hope you feel better soon.

A very dark offering here. It reminds me of a movie I saw many, many years ago. The hand of a murderer is sewn onto an amputee, after which, the character has no control over what it does. I think it starred Vincent Price, but I’m not sure.  All the same, a well done piece… if not a little disturbing.

Originalty in your banality...well written...the sruggle between self and the dark forces of evil...paralysis of analyasis...I have felt this way at times...way to capture an emotional moment in time Earl.

The technique used here to offer emotion
is very reminiscent of E.Allen Poe.
Very striking, Earl!

My first impression of your impressive impression of pain is how much akin to love it is--it either makes you move a way that you wouldn't otherwise, or it does indeed paralyze ya. I realize it's a poem, but if you are writing from a neuropathic experience? They have new ways to deal with that.

(Sorry to say, though, that waking a nerve is actually more painful than the slow death of one.)

I love the title, too. We do clench, don't we? sigh.

Have a hug, a perc (and I find Flexeril more effective than Soma, although there's not quite the euphoria, except for the joy of being able to type!) <--see?

Be well, m'friend.

This is a very impactful write. The pain is deeply felt. We must call for the Angels to bring healing!

A very pertinent title too!

Love,

A most moving write, Earl.  The power of the mind that is supposed to direct all things sometimes fails us and even though I like to think that all things are as they should be, I do find myself asking, "Why?".
