When I was a lad of ten,
I worked all day and saved,
The dollar that I earned,
For a rainy day.

I kept it 'neath my pillow,
And I swear this is the truth,
Woke up the following morning,
My dollar became a tooth.

kinda makes you wonder if you put
something else you didn't need
like a relative
under the pillow
...what would happen....

This literally made me laugh out loud - and Balladeer's response made me laugh harder.

Well that is more true than you know - my dollars are sure becoming teeth I tell you, and I begrudge that dentist every single penny.

Nothing like a good smile from you before bedtime.

Since age 19, I've had both upper and lower plates.  Once my 9 year old grandson asked how I got enough money to treat the entire family, about 22 of us, to dinner at a restaurant.  I told him I took my teeth out and put them under my pillow and the fairy left the $$$.  Then she saw my teeth weren't real so she just left them there.  Now, at 31 years old, he still tells that story.

I'll have to share this piece with him.

Yo Toerag,

I've often wondered how that tooth thingy worked.
