My mercury
is not like yours
my yearning's
there
atop my skin--
I taste the bite
of fruit of sin
just waiting for a breeze.

My hunger is a craving, young
a contest waiting for a name
something wild on tottered edge
a game in search of rules of ease.

My yearn is deeper than my lung--
I'm fathomless in desperate lunge.
compounding self
within Her tide
aware
the ocean's bubble rise
dreamland death
in yearn of light
explosion
of a heart in burst
my need is deeper
than my thirst--
my thirst throws sand
upon my lies.

My tongue is but
a taste grown old.
remains of me,
unquenchable
my toes are
jingle-jangle bells--
my eyelids are
the gates to hell--
never
never
ever
closed.

Dixie? I have a theory that all addiction starts with an intense desire for peace. I pray you find that on your journey. Much love to you.

OH. I was gonna rework this, but I thought, nawwww....

Kinda psychedelic, that's what I really love about your poetry.

It takes on a life of it's own, and then some.

A timely reminder of the addictions we face, hope Dixie comes out of this in tact, she has been through a lot, hope she has a more calm and contented future soon.

A friend asked me if I was sober when I wrote this--the honest answer was "I dunno."

A lot of my life is like that, and I'm not sure if that's owning responsibility or disowning culpability.

But I do thank you all for you time. (And Dixie? I lied a little. I'm pretty sure I dropped an "en" from the last never to make it an "ever". So that's kind of re-worked, yes?

Re-titled too. Just for...for US.

well, my friend, I am glad I dropped in today and read this (to my pleasant surprise)

I very much enjoyed this poem and am keeping it in my library, and the responses too... and the very heart of you.

It's a warm, cozy feeling to know that someone understands my drunk talk sometimes.

*cheers* here's to US

and thank you for this, just what I needed

serenity blaze - no need to rewrite this or change it at all, it's excellent as is. At least in my eyes and thoughts when I read it...
