I would do anything to lay you upon a pedestal
Though that may not be the appropriate thing
It is the only thing
That I desire to do

I would worship at this altar that we create
Bring you an abundance of treasured gifts
Bow low and present these gifts
Offer myself up to you

I would sacrifice anything that you would ask
To show my sincere genuflect devotion
Invoke ritual devotion
With incense and candle too

I would perform the rites of penance pure
Make this more than just spiritual ceremony
More than ceremony
This, between me and you

This is a lovely poem...
although perhaps the sentiment
could well be lost in today's world.

This is a poem for dreamers...

and I are one of them.

Dream on!

I remember this feeling well...  May that pedestal support the construct and reality fit the construct...

Well you've gone and done it now....You've got this hopeful romantic sighing and swooning over here! LOL

This is gorgeous, I love it when you write love poems, it's good to see a man be romantic, and your love poems are one of the best (and I've read thousands).
I honestly don't think your words are far-fetched, there is a lot of reality in your words for lovers who are pure-hearted and truly know how to love and cherish the one they're with. I've seen a plethora of couples who do live this!  It's a shame that the sentiment ould be lost in today's world, that just shows the problem with today's world....because your words are true, attainable and the way God meant love to be!
This really is a beautiful poem, I'm saving it~
Ok, I'll shut up now, but me thinks I'm still all swoony over here LOL

How does passion get to be obsession, so consuming?  The intensity here impresses my thought, and I think of what it is like to be thirsty and reaching for a glass so full it spills.  And then someone fills it again and hands it to you, smiling.

You nearly make me cry with this one, Jerry.
