DRAMA

I am self-made mockery
hanging strings to limb
creating the drama
noose around neck
a Russian roulette of dreams.

Self-loathing comes naturally
prolific in its keep
almost beautiful in its misery
and I gladly play my part
through the Act of this destruction.

There is safety in sabotage
torture makes for intrigue,
challenges fuel the death
when I'm close to life;
So I cut my hope into pieces
and red my heart as bullseye
predictability is strength
disappointment drowns me in blithe.

Sadism is sensual
bound is decadence,
how good it feels to deny myself
cage the urges, pent-up tiger
climaxing the lips in cannibal
to spike my lethargy.

And, if I really wanted to
I could cut the strings
but I'd rather sharpen the scissors
on the scathe of stubborn tears.

Thin ice offers the possibility
and I've never been one
to pull the Band-Aid off quickly.

Oh brava woman!! You've conveyed so much here, however painful it is.
This is extemely powerful and aptly penned.

Especially love your last couple verses, could feel the sting and burning sensation.

Well done honey girl~

An honest poem in which the victim wishes to remain a victim refusing to rip off the bandage.  Rich word choice.

Wow, Melissa...

"Safety in sabotage", indeed -- especially what with the "drama" in here, of late.  Very nice imagery & juxtapositions.

Very powerful Lady Honeybee. I particularly enjoyed the lines:

"And, if I really wanted to
I could cut the strings
but I'd rather sharpen the scissors
on the scathe of stubborn tears."

Never give up!   Peace!

Very powerful write, indeed!  Yes, we are the masters of our own ships but so often steer them on to the rocks.  Excellent portrayal of human nature.

Good advice to anyone Melissa, wait until
it doesn't hurt anymore. An interesting
post my dear.
