Climbing Mountains Barefoot

My selfish heart
knows no different,
nothing other than holding you,
my foolish mind
wanders off to memory,
to all, it seems, I ever knew.

I'm not missing anything
that you can give to me,
it's why I have to leave
I'm certain you'll agree.

I'll never be quite capable
of forgetting about you
even in old age
or with someone new.

I do not appreciate this
selfish heart of mine
the tunnel vision
of a foolish mind
and the nights of linger
longer, asking why,
climbing mountains barefoot,
trying to reach goodbye.

Sorry things are so difficult right now. Peace.

isn't crazy how one's heart reacts to his or her own environment
