Oh water heater,
My water heater
Why must you leak?
Why must your content
In drips you speak?

You’ve made your mess.
Soaked all the clothes.
You’ve stained the wall.
Now mold, it grows.

The plumber’s bill
He seeks big bucks
From Ben Franklins
Which swim with ducks.

Oh water heater,
My water heater
Please keep this water!
Your sole job
Was to make it hotter.

It’s now I must
Replace you fast
Before you burst
I cry, “Avast!”

Stop your endless stream
Upon my floor.
For my tears they match
This flood of yours.

Oh water heater,
My water heater
Why must you leak?
Why must your content
In drips you speak?

This is the only poem speaking to a water heater that I can recall...of course, I don't get out much...goes to show how important the little things are!

Hoping you're in hot water now!  Sometimes it's best to laugh

The plumbers been called… the first one said $1,280.oo to replace. My pocket book said, “Call the next guy.” They won the contract at $830.  Unfortunately I’ve got to wait till Monday. Thankfully, the water heater is only leaking, and I still have hot water.  If you remember the game Mouse Trap, well you’ll have an idea of what I’m using to trap the water.

Thanks for the graphic Balladeer. Being the first to write about a water heater gives the situation somewhat of a silver lining. Albeit, a soggy one.

Passing Shadows & Martie… Thanks for the concern. I doubt I’d still be amongst the living if there wasn’t hot water in this household. I’ve got two teenage daughters and a wife trying to get ready for a family wedding as I write this. Talk about your perfect storm scenario.

Funny poem, Andrew!

I've had two over the years that leaked and then burst. Fortunately I had drains in both basement floors and nothing got ruined. But those plumbing bills were astronimcal.

I hope you enjoyed the wedding!

A splendid poem that is not only well crafted but humourous as well.
