I KEEP TO THE SMALLER GROUP

I keep to the smaller group
of those
with scars
so deep
we do not trust
each other

I keep to the smaller group
of those
who seek god
so they
can reject
grace

I keep to the smaller group
and sometimes
knowing the dead
outnumber
the living
is all that keeps me going

This is quite sad, yet thought provoking.

Why would those who seek god reject grace?

Love,

I like your poem. It makes me want to write.
So I'll keep to the smaller group with you
and let the dead carry on.

Margherita, there are those who not only reject the idea that god exists, but would also rebel against god if he did exist. The existence of god would be oppressive, and destructive of any existential freedom. Regards, Tony

Hmmmm, pain as a shield, an anthem, and a banner...

I have a feeling that this group isn't as small as one might think.  Loved it.

Interesting... I like the feel of your piece. I don't know that I agree, but it works as a piece from start to finish. As for the existence of God being oppressive, I suppose that depends on your view of God. Me, I think he’s pretty much a hands-off sort of guy. And grace is what you make of it. I’m sure there are many who will, and do, disagree. Peace.
