one-eyed spectator watching spring-time round ball
twice the vision of a long-time viewer
eye pillow pirate from an unexpected prat-fall
home team visitor in a town with fewer

than many, if any, supportive fan-base
not plenty, not any, who could name the home base

and fourteen innings like a sudden death playoff
with the drama of a day-time soap spin-off

but I'll root for the home team in the land of desperation
to be a loyal fan who'll prove his dedication

fifteen will come like an early summer snow
unexpected relief in a time-soaked drenching
for this is the bigs, the majors, the show
where this kind of drama is truly heart-wrenching
