Lambs

As dusk belies, an inquiry of sod and night voice makes victory chants
Drawn there, to the edge of swollen waters, entertained by savvy saints
Those with red breast and those with red wings, always the first to gossip
They enchant me, in my cashmere blue eyes and Saturday open toes
It’s not that we aren’t familiar it’s that their rendition of seasons is so much broader
So much more vivid than I would ever express across a two lane gaze
And as the evening sets a little chilly, there is something to be said for a little more exposure
Dropping button down to mid sigh, so that the shape of your hands will cover more ground
Oh, I throw my head back having a conversation in search of my nerve
Until, out of nowhere, the outline of your breath shades me from the fog
And I realize that I was simply singing chorus to your Alto; flushed in the pause
