The crossroads is a choice
Each with a voice
Beckoning decision
Of division
From futures foregone
A point of no return
From which we must learn
To live a chosen life
Free from the strife
Of “What ifs?” bygone

Regret
Chasing echoes
Of the ghosts
For that which never was

"We'll chase them like rats across the tundra."

Yo Andrew,

This is an odd little poem.  Of course "What ifs" are never worth the trouble.

Robert... That's pretty much the message. Once the choice is made, "what ifs" just aren't worth considering. They're a waste of time... like chasing ghosts. They're totally unsubstantial. Thanks for looking in.

Lady Shadow... I think there is always a choice... its just sometimes there's NO WAY you would choose otherwise. I hope your choices are taking you where you want to be.

Poignant and perfectly expressed...I love your style in this....and if only you knew how much I relate to your words right now, but it's only a vexation to the soul to dwell on the 'what ifs'...so I let go...

Steavenr & Honeybee... thanks for the read and write. Your replies are the coin of the realm.

You're right, 'what ifs' never took me anywhere, except to dreamland.

Good to see you Andrew. Is all well with you and your family?

This was nice.  It reminded me of a poem by Wordsworth.  I wish I could remember the title.  I guess you are in good company.

Munda: It is so nice to be seen by one such as you. Yes, it has been some time since I’ve posted… 5 years? As for the family… all is well. The wife and I are living the live of parents to two teenage girls in highschool.  So you can imagine the good and bad of it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  Thanks for asking.

Chalmette Guy: Glad I could offer such.

Sir Brinkman: Such high praise for this lowly poet. Your words are the coin of the realm and I accept in appreciation.
