I’ve looked at men from all sides now
and find they are a species found
in dungeons where the spiders roam
and the walls are known to moan.

They moan because there’s no relief
from, oh, so wrongly held beliefs
that purport to be unbridled truth
without a shred of living proof.

And spiders aren’t afraid to bite
and send their poison deep inside
the tenderness of fleshy parts
that house a good and fulsome heart.

They sit in corners damp and dark,
like moss they grow and o’er lay heart
with calculating slime and goo
to change what was into the new.

They have legs to dance the jig of self,
webs to put love on a shelf,
and always they have eyes to stare
down barrels of “I couldn’t care”.

And when you come back armed to fight
they disappear into the night
with little books and pen and ink
to scratch out all the personal links.

But they’re happy little things, they are
content to vary, maim and mar
a brighter, better, point of view
that comes from out the mouth of “you”.

I’ve looked at men from all sides now
and better they’re not ever found!

---------
With apologies because I know
there can be good amongst the bad.
I just haven’t “found” it yet.

Awwww Honeybunch I know just how you feel. But, like you said, there are some good ones. The problem is they are already taken.

You're looking in wrong places, honeybunch. Stay out of the dungeons. They can actually be found in light of day.

Thanks, Sue and Balladeer.  I'm not "looking" but rather "observing".  There is a difference, I think.  It's a funny thing about spiders - they don't like the light of day.

a few good ones still out there looking

Thanks for reading, Lindsay. I don't need luck though - I just need someone who knows who he is when he's not who he is now.

I started singing the song "I've looked at life from both sides now" when I first saw your title, thinking how neat it would be to see you carry that theme into your write but thinking...nah, surely not.  How pleasantly surprised I was by your treatment (and even though it took a different turn) I found it all so interesting...

Thanks, Steaven.  I've also looked at how, in my experience, men see women.  Still thinking as to whether or not to post it.  Maybe I will!
