Early Easter Sonnet

On early walk I watched the bunnies lay
their colored eggs upon the yards so green
and leaving they hippity-hopped away
without a single sign that they’d been seen.
I rubbed my eyes and thought, “Am I awake?”
while further down the block I ventured on
to view some wobbling eggs begin to shake
and open wide their shells upon the lawn.
Out popped some yellow peeps and then some blue,
some orange, some purple, green and lots of pink.
I heard one of them say, “Hey, how are you?”
and that’s when I said, “Wait! I’ve got to think—
How lovely Easter is when Life’s begun,
Oh, won’t you let the children see? Just one!"

God bless,
Lighthouse Bob

We actually saw this scene here on Sunday, but I didn't hear what they were saying

Happy Easter Bob to you and yours.

Sharon,

Because of church activities, we arrived a bit late to the Easter celebration this year where upon arrival we saw the grown-ups hiding the last of all sorts of various plastic eggs with different kinds of goodies inside, my favorite egg was the one that looked like a monkey’s face. All the children, including my son who's over 6 foot, found at least a couple dozen eggs each. Anyways, the all of a sudden arrival in the middle of Easter activities and my general love for Easter peeps is what I suppose initiated the writing of this poem.

As always, God bless, thank you for reading and thank you for your kind comments,

-Bob
