The privileges I shall enjoy when I finally reach my prime,
Will include behaving as I choose just about any time.
I'll throw rocks at puppy dogs, and chase cats when I please,
Everyone will let me do it, when I'm 93.

When I go out with my grand kids, I'll sit wherever I want,
I'll order three, no, four desserts from fancy restaurants.
I'll not expend in my Depends, I'll use the nearest tree,
Everyone will let me do it, when I'm 93.

I'll ogle all the frisky girls and grin at them with gums,
I'll get sponge baths from pretty nurses anytime I want.
I'll pinch their bottoms, say I got ‘em, and they'll not scold me,
Everyone will let me do it, when I'm 93.

I'll go for long and aimless walks in the middle of the night,
I'll get rides home in police cars, but that will be alright.
Because they'll know I've not far to go, and that's OK with me,
Everyone will let me do it, when I'm 93.

I'll have young nurses say, "Good night," and kiss on my forehead,
I'll say I'm scared of the dark, would they tuck me in my bed?
If they do this I'll steal a kiss, and cackle out in glee,
Everyone will let me do it, when I'm 93.

I'll the turn the TV up real loud when commercials are being run,
And then pretend I can't hear a sound just to have some fun.
I'll surf  the shows in slow mo, and control the TV screen,
Everyone will let me do it, when I'm 93.

In a few more years I'll be even worse and drive everybody mad,
I'll be a real hellion, having more fun than I've ever had.
I'll be a poster child of Gramps-gone-wild, and use all of my tricks,
Just like our Balladeer does now, but when I'm 96.

93???? Boy,  are you optimistic!

Lotsa good humor there, LongJohn. Keep it up and you'll be writing good poetry....when you're 93.

Gramps-Gone-Wild. Ha! Don't know of too many who would be willing to pay for that one. But no joke, my gramps made it to 93... Just enough to where he walked down to the hospital (yes, he walked), checked himself in, and hung out for about two weeks before he cashed in his chips. Now Grandma is still going at 99. I'll set you up if you like. She's a mad little Hungarian lady in Canada who makes a great goolosh. This was a fun one. Peace.

Well there is one thing for sure Long John,
apart from writing very good verse, you are

the supreme optimist, and what a great way to be. Keep up the good work, very enjoyable

I hope I am in the same "ward" as you so we can have wheelchair races.  I intend on doing very similar things.  I am only 2/3 through my "Bucket List" and have a lot of living to do yet.   Loved the poem.
