I am a hearty seaman out on the ocean blue,
I carry cargoes around the world, and a passenger or two.
And so it was that Toerag tramped on my steamer's trip,
To get from there to somewhere else upon my mighty ship.

I had sailed off to India for a cargo of brown stain,
That was needed over in Africa to help repel the rain.
I stowed it in the forward hold, a 100,000 gallons dead,
While in the aft I'd already stowed a 100,000 gallons of red.

The voyage was uneventful until I neared the Somali coast,
Where many other ships had been assailed by pirate boats.
True enough, the land-lubbers attacked, and threatened to sink my ship,
If I didn't pay a ransom to proceed upon my trip.

I offered what money I had in my Swiss banking account,
Knowing full well they'd ask for more if they knew the balance amount.
But Toerag stepped forward and told them they all could go to hell,
As he looked down upon their boats riding in the swell.

Needless to say they responded with fire to the defiance Toerag showed,
And opened holes at the waterline where the red and brown paints were stowed.
The cargoes spilled into the sea as my ship listed to the starboard side,
And eventually sank beneath the waves. Gone was my joy and pride.

I made it into a life boat with the rest of my ship's crew,
Who threatened to keel haul me if I allowed Toerag in there, too.
And so it was that we were rescued, and not one minute too soon,
From the sea stained red and brown, while Toerag was maroon-ed.

----------------

That Toerag - always had a flair for colors, such as the primer gray and red on his latest pickup truck.

That Toerag sure is colorful, ain't he? A red face from always being embarrassed, a yellow streak down the back, a black sense of humor and pink underwear, often brown. Now he's maroon-ed? I'll bet he eats rainbow trout!

Btw, LongJohn, you misspelled heartless in the first line

Something tells me maybe he didn't want to be rescued.  Ever seen those island natives on those old flicks?  LOL, cute one.
