Hey, I got old when I wasn't lookin'!
I only closed my eyes a sec..
I went to sleep a sleek Ferrari
And I woke up a junkyard wreck!

How could this happen in an instant?
How could this body age so quick?
When did this candle burning brightly
Come up with such a shortened wick??

When I played golf I was a master.
I played a round a day, or more.
Now, when I swing a club to warm up
I have to stop because I'm sore!

When I bend over now to pet the dog
I always wind up with the cramps
And college girls who found me groovy
Now just refer to me as gramps!

When did this transformation happen?
It just ain't fair, this travesty.
Who is that codger in the mirror
And why's he looking back at me?

Yep, I got old when I wasn't lookin!
Some time warp threw me years ahead.
Ain't gonna chance on no more nappin'
Or I may wake and find me-- dead!

Old or young, I,ll take you either way. What Nan said is true though; you aren't getting old, you are getting smarter.

The humour in this quite enjoyable and you have a good command of metre.

You're older than you thought you were,
When you wrote that poem a while ago.
Now you're frisky has become risky,
And your fastest has become quite slow.

The wits that once served you so well,
Have deserted you in your golden years.
You never knew they'd become so few,
In that space between your ears.

Nevertheless, despite your infirm,
It hasn't alienated your muse.
The words you pen are excellent,
For the emotions that they induce.

Michael - neat poem you wrote there - full of wit and candor.  I hope all is going well for you. ....  Mike

Yo Balladeer,

You have noticed that too.  Say this every morning--

"Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the youngest one of all!"

I shall never see you any less
or a fraction of who you are ~

Dear Balladeer, I must confess
Among the best, you are a shining star.

Hello Mike, you certainly are a wizard with your rhyming and meter, always a joy to

read. Your outer casing may be starting to show its age but you are still only a boy

at heart and I hope you stay that way.
Keep up the good work my friend.

Good to be seen by such as thee. It has been some time with some serious water under the bridge. I'm hoppin' to spend a little more time about these parts.

Hey, You have heard it said.Older men are sexy to the young ladies.Especially if they carry a fat wallet. No worries. Now we  senior type ladies even if we have a fat pocket book, do nt stand a chance if a younger chick is hanging around. You have a choice, we ladies don't. LOL enjoy your new status. latearrival
