This is just a song. It didn't happen to me but I saw it happen to many and destroyed their lives.....
.
.
I just got your email
slowly scrolled it down
you wrote about the changes
that you're making now
I just couldn't take it
and cried to think how you
carelessly reminded me
you lived with someone new

You said you've been worried
bout my state of mind
wished things were different
but know things heal with time
You want us to be friends
Feel free to call and talk
so all those years together
won't be completely lost.

So I'll make this one reply to you
and ask you what I should do...... with

these photographs of you and me
this wedding ring and memories
this home of ours a special thrill
we proudly bought in suburb hills
This bedroom with no pillow talk
Occasion cards saved in a box
the promises you left with me
these shattered dreams and used to be's.

I'm hoping you'll answer
offer me some help
but you're still making changes
and dealing with yourself
I just can't imagine
how the years slipped softly by
the future became pretense
I loved you while you lied..

I'll make this one reply to you
and ask you what I should do...... with

these photographs of you and me
the wedding ring and memories
this home of ours a special thrill
we proudly bought in suburb hills
This bedroom with no pillow talk
Occasion cards saved in a box
the promises you left with me
these shattered dreams and used to be's.

Really poignant song lyrics, Eric.

Used to be's and must have beens:
these are life's guardrails.

A good song that deserves to be read.

Nice Poem Eric,

It just goes to show you.  Stay away from the burbs.  They're nothing but bad news.

Well written, in style and content.

this is a hauntingly beautiful song...the best kind there is imo...good strong writing!

There must be a poem in here somewhere.
