Daylight Lingers now,
relunctantly slipping into darkness,
on the eve of summer days.

Twilight rings with laughter and fun
for the children have more time to play,
at the best time of all...
the close of day.
They are dreading that call to come to bed
and will remember this joyful time
in the long, quiet evenings ahead.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Ida! It is so appropriate for the season in the advent of spring and summer, but it is the purest distillation of my memories of these emotions in the days of youth's long passing. I truly adore this!

You took me back a long time, to when there was no TV and my brother and I played in the soft summer evenings for hours.  I was towheaded as a child and the hummingbirds used to dive bomb my hair.  I remember them buzzing me particularly at twilight. My mother would sit outside and chat with the neighbors as we played.

I'm laughing remembering.  Thank you, Ida.  I really liked this one, too.

Love this!!-especially the first stanza....you've said it perfectly!

Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world!

Yes it is something they will remember dear Ida for the rest of their lives. They won't

know that now but in their twilight years they will think back to all those happy

times they had when they were kids, we all do it and it is great to have such happy memories. Love.

Upon your verse are the shades of delight where your words contrast with meaning.

Hello Ida, anyone can refer to your wonderful verses...It recalls me my youth and the words you used are so true and precise, children would so much like to keep awake and enjoy time and plays, sometimes adults would like the total opposite, simply to sleep, thanks for the very thoughtful and gorgeous poem...

have a nice day
