A face that I barely knew,
Someone that didn't last long,
The voice that I long to hear,
One of the people that cared for me the most,
The person I'll never see again,
Until the Lord finally takes me away,
He brought her out of her suffering,
Leaving me with great pain,
Pain that still lingers around today,
She was the person that everyone knew,
When she sang,
The words were like the softest velvet,
Everyone loved the way they sounded,
Even the angels up above,
If I could see her once more,
I's just want to hear three simple words,
Words that everyone likes to hear,
She'll say them in her velvet voice,
The hole in my heart will shrink,
And every pain will vanish,
All the angels will smile,
Everything will finally feel right.

This is awkward for me to comment upon.  First of all let me say that I am sorry for the loss that you feel.  The poem was heartful and sincere and it made me wonder what those three words were.  My only concern is the opening line - a face that I barely knew.  It seems to contradict the basis of the poem.

I have to say I feel the same way as Earl.  Who was this person? I loved one you knew or some one you hope to meet in the here after?  Think about it.

It was someone he met online through a picture, but knows their  heart!....

I understand this perfectly!

Great heartfelt poem!

Some things just are...no explanation needed.  Life and fate, the sun and the moon.  These situations are never one-sided.

What a beautiful tribute
for a first post. It appears
and feels to be a first hand
account...and the quality of
yearning for something beyond
our grasp is...right there.
