If scattered thoughts were peppermint candy
And logic was so easy to define
This world would be a sweeter place
And your kisses and smiles would all be mine

If emptiness were a bottomless pit
And love was only temporary by design
Seek then the things that keep your soul intact
And drink from her lips of succulent wine

If truthfulness were words and not deeds
And on others we didn't depend
Would togetherness be a forgotten word
Is this how our lives will end

If relationships were only dreams
Everyone would have a smile on their face
Prejudice and hate would be a thing of the past
And our love would never be displaced
