The  Storm
Midnight, and the threatening, dark clouds race toward the moon.
Blotting out the luminous starlight, in an hour the night has changed.
Lightening shoots down in jagged,  vicious stabs, striking air with a booms.
Squirrels snuggle together for body warmth, birds sit on a wire, unafraid.

Winds come from nowhere, twisting tunnels of howling air.
Trees shiver and twist in frightening agony. They know what this is.
Clear bullets of cold, clear water descend to grassy lawns, oh what joy.
The ground and all the foliage is in for a treat, tonight, it seldom gets.

I hear the raindrops striking the metal gutters, as I sit by the window
puffing on my brier pipe, piles of clouds inside as well.
I am unable to sleep again, a frequent thing, but I am happy.
I am thankful for this miracle occurring out of my door.

Is someone or something watching from above, I sure hope so.

This is a wonderful write, dear GBride, very powerful emotions are conveyed and I love how the last sentence shows your connection with someone special in a moment like this.

Love,
Margherita
