                   The Wife
                       By Billie Cullimore

            I'm not your drinking buddy
But I am your loyal friend.
Won't help you tip your glass up
But a helping hand I'll lend.

Won't help you on the bar stool.
Won't lead you in the door.
            Won't fight your silly battles.
Won't scrape you off the floor.

Won't sit at home a praying.
Won't pay your fine or bail.
         Won't take your flirting nonsence
            Won't visit you in jail.

But I'll keep the home fires burning
I'll be there in the night.
I'll ride the dusty trail with you.
And watch the geese in flight.

I'll fish and hunt and tramp the woods.
          I'll climb a mountain high.
I'll cook the evening meal for you
As we bid the twilight die.

No! I'm not your drinking buddy
But I am your loyal friend.
I'll stick around if you want me
             Until we reach the end.

Dear Billie, this is so powerfully "devotional", combined with true wisdom. Beautifully written, in a very captivating style.

Love,
Margherita

Thank you Margherita, We write poetry about the things we see and find in our own lives, and in the lives of others that we know and love.

And that is exactly the sort of friend we
all want dear Billie, one who will be with us to the end. love,

Sometimes, only through poetry,
can others see the pain and love
in life.

Thank you, Billie.

An important message well stated with passion and power.  I can almost hear the rhythms turn into melody.  Nice job.
