I look into the mirror,
Appalled at what I see.
At what effect the hand of time-
Has cruelly wrought on me.
Gone the tall young cowboy-
They said had sex appeal…
That look of age, and weariness-
Reflects the way I feel.
But they say that is the way it goes.
They tell me that is life.
To watch your children grow and go,
With, or without your wife.
They say the longer that you live,
The more your worry grows…
All I can say is, “God forbid”!
But that’s the way it goes.
Do I have a purpose?
And do I have a plan?
In writing down these morbid lines-
With an arthiritic hand?
With time being so precious-
Don’t waste it, I suppose.
I fear it’s gone too quickly…
But that’s the way it goes.

Yes, I'm afraid "That's the way it goes."

Are these poems in a book?  I keep asking because they tell a fascinating story.   I keep asking and you keep avoiding my question.  So, I keep asking. Are these poems in a book?

They should be.

Delightful!
You do have a gift.
The only problem is, I'm jealous of your talent!
