Dreams of Cinderella

There was a time I dreamed about
The places I would go.
The things I would accomplish-
And the people I would know...

I dreamed of Cinderella-
How I’d sweep her off her feet.
The future found this dreamy knight
Out sleeping on the street.

I pictured me, Sir Lancelot...
Out striving for the right.
It seems that others always saw-
Me, as the Norman knight.

My motives oft misunderstood-
My character besmirched...
I’ve never seen, that perfect queen,
No matter where I searched.

And now life’s shadows lengthen,
And my strength is fading fast.
I try to live each moment now,
As though it were my last.

I still dream of Cinderella-
And I long to hold her still...
As long as I’ve a bresth of life-
I guess I always will.

John,

I think that your dreams are one of the things that has made you one of my favorite poets.

Keep dreaming, please.

To carry on hoping inspite of the odds or the circumstances is most noble.  While I find this piece bitter sweet it`s romanticism overshadows that aspect.

Cinderella was a dreamer, and so very unassuming.
I guess it must have been prerequisite royal grooming
and I read her story often, beguiled as a child,
To think she became queen on whom a kingdom smiled.
Now I'm old, and stories gold, are simply infant laughter;
Envision still a world more bright and Happy Ever After.

It comes in small things, ordinary everyday kindnesses and hope.  There are Cinderellas and handsome princes still out there, but somehow it's become a Barbie doll world where some women will never fit.

I hope you find your princess.

John, "that perfect queen "... they don't exist~~

Nothing is perfect in this world, you have to  settle for contentment ( which isn't all that bad)
