My passing will be as a gentle whisper
Whose words are never heard,
Yet combined with many others
Becoming a breeze moving ever on,
Passing by those left behind unnoticed
Thereby able to touch, and be felt again
Joining with other whispers into breezes likewise
Becoming a wind gaining strength
For in the summer, bringing a small respite
And a temporary consolation
To those who endure the heat
And in winter, a freshness in the cool sweetness
Invigorating, injecting many with a desire for life
Every time I am on the verge of being forgotten
I will blow in from the horizon
Bringing a different memory every time
I pass through the body of those that remember
There are no limits to the places I can go
Nor the people I can touch
In this way I will be eternal,
And my passing will not have been in vain

This is exquisite... so beautiful it literally brought a tear to my eye!

You know I love your poetry... but I think this may be my very favorite!!!

I have a porch
that recalls such breezes...

but this particular passing
won't happen for a long,
long time.

Write on!

I really enjoyed this poem. It is beautiful in thought and verse. Our words and actions live on in the people we impact in our lives. They reverbrate over and over. The japanese have a word for this, it is yoin.

Thanks for this wonderful poem.

I love the entire poem, but I especially like the last 4 lines. What a perfect way to tie it up-- with a gorgeous bow.

I wonder what they say in the ethers when one leaves there for earth;
Will they cry for ache and pain that comes of mortal birth?
And do they laugh for joy when one passing here returns
Knowing the soul's a circle where love of Love is learned?

Jerry, the breeze on the horizon paints such lovely pictures in the sun and rain.  You do leave your mark!

A very powerful read. I am never disappointed by what you offer. I bow to you and yours.
