If I could be God for just one night

I could turn all the wrongs into right
Heaven would be here among us
And for all, a never ending justice
Gone would be all the imagery
Of countless evil catastrophe
What a fantastic blessed sight

If I could be God for just one night

Never again tears of a mother shed
Wasted on yet another innocent dead
Too late to save one lost soul
From a darkening stranglehold
Absence of fear, of any mortal fright

If I could be God for just one night

Think of all the good which is gained
Think of an unknown thing such as pain
Behold all which is shone
When love is finely honed
What warmth from peaceful light

If I could be God for just one night

All the children would be saved
As I send back the shadows with a wave
And the wrongs all undone
Together as one
We are love, shining bright

If I could be God for just one night
If only I could be God tonight

Beautiful touching write, dear Jerry.

I believe God wants us to be His instruments down here. We need indeed to awaken to love to alleviate the pain and to promote justice.

Much enjoyed your words.

Love,
Margherita

Chalmette Guy - Not only great writing but crafted by the poet's hand into a prayer that speaks to an aspiration in all of us at one time or another to run things right. Thanks for putting it into vibrant verse Jerry. Namyh
