Snow Dunes

Its been awhile for thoughts to rise.
Those words to seize, to touch the eyes
of blue on blue, and white on white.
A blizzard's view to storm the night:

An inside look caught from the out
as pile on pile leaves little doubt
that days to come will push the will
continuing to clear until

the buried cars and hidden walks
are shared among the neighbors talks...
The Blizzard of two thousand ten
we hope to never see again!

M

Bruce I just looked outside again ...I took these pictures 2 hours ago...I can't tell the street from the properties right now and it's still coming down. Everything that was shoveled or plowed was a waste of time...and the winds are unbelievable!

Yo dear Nakdthoughts,

Yes, this looks about right.  Those walks need shoveling.

M~

Love the fluency of your pen and the pictures it paints, accompanied with the extraordinary photographs.  Yes, I imagine people will be talking about it for years!

Great to read your writing!

Hey Bobby, living in PA you must know that if on a corner of a state road and a borough road we get it from both plows piled high. There is no way to shovel or clear my walk now, since the state pushed the snow onto my sidewalk and gardens and the only room is  one foot wide next to my house and that will lead nowhere since the  alley at the back was piled ten  ft high 2 days ago after the other storm. I have given up on my 500 ft of  sidewalk on that side of the house.  Just happy enough to be able to get out the front walkway if needed.

~misc, I'm sure you are use to snow. I love snow but schools have been closed for a week now and will continue to be closed until this begins to melt or disappear  since there is so much snow they don't know where to put it.   In Balto. they are going to truck the snow into the bay.

Nice to see you here.
*to the right of the white house on the left in the first picture is the head of a neighbor trying to clear his driveway~~~ he gave up shortly after this picture was taken.

Yo dear M,

The city does that to corners here in Philadelphia too.  The corner of Indiana Ave. and Edgemont Street has a pile of snow 15 feet high.  I don't know how the front end loader ever managed to put all that snow in one place, but they did.  It will take forever to melt.

My neighbor, his kids, and I will have another foot of snow to clear away in the morning.

So far Philly has a total of 70 inches of snow this winter, a new record--and it's just the start of Feb.

Love Bobby

Wow! I haven't lived in the snow since I was about 14 and at my age I can't say I miss it. We have been pounded by rain lately though. Hope it lets up on you soon.
Nice pictures and your poem gives us all an idea of what's really going on there.

Hi, Maur!  I was REALLY hoping that you would post some winter pictures again.  I still remember your last photos- they were great.  You're a heck of a 'shooter', gal!
Love the line about the buried cars and hidden walks.  Our back fence is buried half the way up.
Thanks for posting the pics!  You read my mind!  Keep warm, Maureen,
Jeff

Snow scenery, how I love it. But then I understand it can create problems. I enjoyed your words and the pictures very much, dear Maureen. For me that's a true Winter!

And ... this morning it snowed heavily here in Rome! It did not snow like this since 1985! I was all excited. But now the sun shines again and it melts.

Love and warm hugs.

My gosh Maureen are you okay? I could run over with a shovel if you need me okay, just holler.

What beautiful pictures to go along with such an amazing weather event. I hope all is fine.

Wonderful poem as always.

Happy Valentines.

Maureen - so beautiful is the new found snow, and also your description in your writing. Always the gentle one...
