            eternity whispers

A faint-twilight crescent hangs
above a lovely ice crystal forest
where shimmering moonbeams
and frost-echoes dance
through these empty Winter
   mountains
to the quavering cadence
of distant evening bells.

Life drifts above this frozen mere
in perfect time with deep-silent
   waters far below
and the press of a million million
   years…
as eternity whispers.
