Yesterday's News

Bitter cold air
whistling through the alleyway
picking up today's newspaper
and swirling it into a mass
of paper coffee cups
and old electric bills
and slapping it
flattened out
against the side of a rusted garbage bin
the big bold headline illuminated
by the yellow back porch light
of an italian restaurant
like of piece of history
that refused to die
and was making one last attempt
at being interesting
before disappearing into the annals
of yesterday's news...
