(It has saddened me profoundly to hear of the loss of our dear friend Midnitesun, as she taught and influenced me so much and, moreover, was especially close to my heart being a fellow Oregonian in the last stages of her life, who we were planning to meet for quite a long time but, sadly, never came to be.

I've been extremely busy as of late with multiple irons in the fire, including volunteerism/community organizing, a foray into modeling that has suddenly exploded into a promising career (I'm meeting with a world-renowned photographer on February 7th for a special all-day workshop) and festival management among other things..........which has kept me from being able to sit down and write in the frequency I'd like.........but for now I want to post this to honor her memory, until I can express just how she has touched my heart, and countless others, with new words! )

If Tears Could Build A Stairway
By: Noah Eaton
7/29/06

What if the stars are nothing but little embers,
pouring from the eyes of loved ones so we remember,
there is always love beyond the grave,
shining brightly teaching us to be brave,
smoldering like a sunbeam across my shoulder,
and you’re afraid to turn and glance over,
because staring through heaven’s fire can be blinding.
often we’re unwinding only to be reminding,
that love leaves a memory,
that can never be stolen…

If tears could build a stairway,
if prayers can make a bouquet,
can you feel through the break of day,
can I reach you from so far away,
show me no mercy,
wings were meant for rustling,
so children can learn how to listen,
to love on a mid-summer day,
and I feel I’ve finally understood in time,
living in hearts that are left behind…
…is never to die…

…there’s far more to love than sight…
.
.
.
.
.
My mother’s whispers sweep the kitchen floor,
like the wedding dress she wore when she turned twenty-four,
her grace was more perennial than a flower store,
her emotions went as deep as the ocean floor,
my father said he was rich as can be,
when I came running into his arms when they were empty,
he smiled as though each day was his 50th anniversary,
his heart is as fragrant as springtime in a nursery,
these are memories of love,
that can never be stolen…

If tears could build a stairway,
if prayers can make a bouquet,
can you feel through the break of day,
can I reach you from so far away,
show me no mercy,
wings were meant for rustling,
so children can learn how to listen,
to love on a mid-summer day,
and I feel I’ve finally understood in time,
living in hearts that are left behind…
…is never to die…

…there’s far more to love than sight…
.
.
.
Wearing my tears like jewelry,
time engraves my cheeks with those,
I have not yet weeped…

…and I can feel my soul,
bleeding inwardly…
.
.
.
…can you see the rainbows,
behind my eyelids,
expressing my silent language of lament…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
God can heal a broken heart,
but He has to have all the pieces to make it art,
each piece is like a tear dripping into the ocean,
and I feel I’m just going through the motions,
waiting until you say you’ve found them all,
like a star-crossed lover waiting on a phone call,
like a bright-eyed child in the sun…
.
.
.
.
.
If tears could build a stairway,
if prayers can make a bouquet,
can you feel through the break of day,
can I reach you from so far away,
show me no mercy,
wings were meant for rustling,
so children can learn how to listen,
to love on a mid-summer day,
and I feel I’ve finally understood in time,
living in hearts that are left behind...

...is never to die...
.
.
.
.
.

Dear Noah,
this is a very heartfelt beautiful tribute to our dear Kacy. I can feel your deep sorrow. She really has touched our lives with her wonderful spirit.

Thank you for coming in despite your multiple busy tasks.

Your picture is most expressive, I wish you a fantastic career!

Love,
Margherita

I wish my sorrow could help me write like this.

She will be greatly missed indeed. If you don't mind, I'm putting this in my library.

Thanks Noah.

Thank you for this lovely tribute, Noah, to our beloved Kacy.  She was a wonderful person who touched the hearts of everyone she met.  She has left an everlasting legacy of values, spirit, poetry and friendship on these blue pages and in the hearts of all who knew her.
