on bended knee
he waits…

afflicted
by unquenched thirst
he waits
for vultures
to bleach his bones
release
him from such misery

the hour, nigh
of death’s decay
that prey
on broken limbs
pulsate
through fickle veins

to him, it is the end
the end ,
that matters not
for his love,
his heart
is gone….

I can feel the pain in this and have seen it so many times on television.  You captured the agony well.
