She's Eccentric You Know

Behind clean cupped hands
They whisper words low,
"What an odd person she is,
She's eccentric you know."

Wearing an old ragged shirt,
With blue jeans cut low,
Her hair is uncombed and tumbled,
"She's eccentric you know."

Her children are sometimes unwashed,
With too many pets in tow,
She doesn't seem to notice,
"She's eccentric you know."

Her house is mostly in shambles,
Her cleaning doesn't show,
She's much too busy living,
"She's eccentric you know."

Someday they all will gather
To hear the pastor's word so slow,
"She lived her life for others,
She was eccentric you know."

Her children in their anguish
With their heads hanging low
Will hear those words with pride,
"She was eccentric you know."

And one day there will gladly be
Another brow on which to bestow
Those words now borne so proudly
"She's eccentric you know."

God bless her! She has been busy living and loving others ~

"She's eccentric you know."

Your story played out like reeling Rockwell paintings before my mind!

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Linda

I like this a lot - and I'll view people maybe a tiny bit differently now.

I love this. Poor people are called odd or crazy but the rich are known to be eccentric if they seem odd. I always took to  people who were a little different. They make life more interesting. Really enjoyed this . latearrival

Thank you for your comments, latearrival. The world would be a poorer place without our differences, be they eccentric or not.

What's a little dust on the furniture in comparison to generous acts of love in favour of others? I love this eccentric lady you painted here, very well done.

Love,
Margherita

What a compliment to your neighbour.  They call me that sometimes, but I sure live the way I want to, and don't dance to any drummer but my own.  I loved this, and printed it out.

Margherita and Mysteria; thank you for your comments on "She's Eccentric You Know." There was also a dab here and there of another lady I know.

Oh.

I didn't mean to imply I was eccentric.

I'm totally blaspheming nuts.

Earl Brinkman, serenity blaze, I_Am_Little and bel1e, thank you for your comments on my poem "She's Eccentric You Know." I believe it is the "eccentrics" who make our world creative and interesting. If you found a little part of yourself in my poem, that makes it so much the better.

I am so glad to see this second time around.  What an epitaph!  Now that I am officially retired, I plan on being eccentric full-time, and hopefully will be remembered that way too.

Haha, I always said that when I was old and wore my hair white I would do anything I wanted and if called eccentric I would not care in fact be proud. But now I am at that point in life and don't know how to show that side of me.LOL latearrival
